György PARAGH, MD, PhD, DSc
He was born in Hungary in 1953. He gained his MD degree in 1978 at the University of Debrecen.
He obtained his specialization:
- internal medicine -1983,
- cardiology -1989,
- endocrinology – 2001,
- angiology – 2006.
He obtained his PhD degree in 1987 and DSc degree in 2000. He was nominated full professor in 2001. He was Dean of the Faculty of Medicine University of Debrecen between 2004-2007 and President of Medical and Health Science Center University of Debrecen between 2007-2013. He was director of Institute of Internal Medicine of University of Debrecen from 2003-2018. Since 2001 he has been leading Department of Metabolic Diseases at the University of Debrecen. He was the secretary general of Hungarian Atherosclerosis Society from 2003 to 2016. He was elected the president of Hungarian Atherosclerosis Society in 2016. His member of International and European Atherosclerosis Society. His member of Hungarian Society of Internal Medicine, Hungarian Society of Diabetes, Hungarian Society of Cardology, Hungarian Society of Nephrology, Hungarian Society of Endocrinology. He supervised 17 PhD students, who defended their PhD thesis. He have published 530 scientific paper and edited 5 books and wrote 67 chapters. His editor in chief of Hungarian Metabolism Journal. The citation for his publication is 5015. His H-index is 35. His research interest: development of atherosclerosis, changes in LDL receptor function in hyperlipoproteinaemias with different origin, therapy of hyperlipoproteinaemia, changes in the lipoprotein lipase and hepatic lipase activity of patients with hyperlipoproteinaemia, lipoprotein abnormalities and therapy of secundary hyperlipoproteinaemia. His previous activity was rewarded more than 20 awards.
