I am a senior specialist in Diabetes, Nutrition, and Metabolic Diseases and a senior specialist in health food hygiene, with competence in general ultrasonography. Since 2019, I have been an Associate professor in Diabetes, Nutrition, and metabolic diseases and the Chief of the Hygiene Department at Dentistry Faculty-UMF Carol Davila, Bucharest, Romania.
Currently, I am the President of the Romanian Committee of Diabetes, Nutrition and Metabolic Diseases and The National Coordinator for the National Diabetes Programme, where I have initiated and implemented policies in the diabetes field. I also manage the only Romanian patient platform for diabetes education, RODiabet. One of my significant contributions is developing the DIABETA application for diabetologists, a pioneering tool in diabetes management. Furthermore, I am involved in scientific work with national and international teams and am developing an international scholarship programme for PhD students. I am currently engaged in new therapy and technology tools for screening and diabetes prevention, patient education, and diabetes technology.
My academic and international achievements include being the vice president of the Central European Association of Diabetes(CEDA), a member of the Global Council of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes(EASD), the Romanian Society of Diabetes, Nutrition, Metabolic Diseases, and the Romanian Diabetes Federation, vice-president of Romanian Diabetes Society, and vice-president of Romanian Association for the Study of Metabolic Syndrome(ARSSM). I also hold the position of vice president of the Association for Renal Metabolic and Nutrition Studies and am a board member of the International Lipid Expert Panel and the European Federation of the International Atherosclerosis Society. I have authored more than 360 papers in the areas of diabetes, nutrition, and lipid disorders, published in national and international peer-reviewed journals, with an H-index of 41. I also serve as an Academic Editor or Associate Editor, and reviewer for more than 15 national and international journals.
