Biography

Post-graduated in Clinical Pharmacology, Professor of Dietary Sciences by the University of Bologna (Italy), President of the Italian Nutraceutical Society, Member of the Board of the Italian Hypertension Society, main author or co-author of more than 500 full scientific papers published on international press (among which almost 410 on Pub-Med), with total 2019 IF>1500, Scopus h-index= 47, WOS h-index= 33), 130 full papers published on national scientific journals, 10 full books, 36 chapters in national and international books, 21 full papers published on national and international congress proceedings. He is member of the editorial board of Nutrients, Journal of Clinical Medicine, Diseases, Archives of Medical Sciences – Atherosclerotic Diseases, High Blood Pressure & Cardiovascular Prevention, Medicine, Current Topics in Nutraceutical Research, and Nutrafoods. He is reviewer of papers for numerous high-quality scientific journals in the field of internal medicine, cardiovascular disease prevention, metabolic diseases, nutrition/nutraceuticals, pharmacotherapy (ex.: The Lancet, BMJ, Arch Intern Med, Circulation, Hypertension, J Hypertens, Atherosclerosis, BMC Public Health, PLOS One, Diabetic Medicine, J Am Coll Nutr, etc.). Currently his main research interest are clinical pharmacology of nutraceuticals and management of cardiometabolic risk factors. He is responsible for the dissemination of the data sampled during the longitudinal Brisighella Heart Study. He is investigator in a number of randomized clinical trials carried out in GCP. His skills include data and trials managing, statistical data analysis, clinical management of patients at high cardiovascular disease risk, measurement of endothelial reactivity and arterial stiffness. Moreover, he has an intensive divulgation activity organizing and participating to national and international CME meetings as invited speaker.
