Biography

Since 2015, he has been holding the position of President of the Russian National Atherosclerosis Society. He is also a member of executive committee of Russian Society of Cardiology.

Since 1993, he has been employed by Federal State Budget Institution «National Medical Research Center of Cardiology» of Ministry of Health of Russian Federation, Moscow, Russia, from 2019 as a main researcher and a Head of Laboratory of Lipid Disorders.

Since 2018, he has been a professor of the Department of Higher and Additional Professional Education of the «National Cardiology Research Center».

Within the framework of his scientific activity he performs clinical studies with a focus on lipoprotein(a) and apolipoprotein(a) in patients with CHD, polyvascular atherosclerosis including long-term prospective data. His current research interests include also the role of lipoproteins in atherogenesis, and familial hypercholesterolemia in the Russian population.

He has written more than 350 original manuscripts and meeting abstracts (including papers in Circulation, JACC, Atherosclerosis, Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, Current Opinion in Lipidology, Journal of Clinical Lipidology).

He is a Fellow of European Society of Cardiology, a Member of American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology, and European Atherosclerosis Society.

Since 1995, he has been serving as a principal investigator, study coordinator, sub-investigator in multiple international clinical trials in lipidology, cardiology, and diabetes mellitus. For recent years he has experience of a National Lead in several landmark randomized clinical trials including FOURIER, SELECT, Lp(a) HORIZON.

He participates in the International Atherosclerosis Research School as a tutor for several years. He is an active lecturer in the Educational Programs and Workshops on behalf of the Russian National Atherosclerosis Society.
