Suowen Xu

Professor of Pharmacology at the Department of Life Science and Medicine, University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) since 2020.

Biography

Suowen Xu is a professor of Pharmacology at the Department of Life Science and Medicine, University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) since 2020. He was also a visiting professor to Max Planck Institute of Heart and Lung Research funded by Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Germany. He was selected into the National High-level Talent Youth Program, the list of the world’s top 2% scientists. He is the deputy director of the Anhui Provincial Key Laboratory of Metabolic Health and Pan-vascular Diseases.

Dr. Xu graduated from Sun Yat-sen University, China, in 2011. After graduation, he went to the NHLBI/NIH and the University of Rochester to carry out postdoctoral research and get promoted to Research Assistant Professor in University of Rochester between 2016-2019. Dr. Xu’s research focused on mechanism and therapies for cardiometabolic diseases by targeting lipid metabolism. He has published papers in J Clin Invest, Eur Heart J, Nat Commun, PNAS, Lancet etc. He receives American Heart Association (AHA) Career Development Award and was funded by AHA and National Natural Science Foundation of China.
