Zaneta Petrulioniene, MD PhD, Professor of Cardiology at Clinic of Cardiac and Vascular Diseases of Vilnius University, Faculty of Medicine, Head of the first Department of Cardiology of Vilnius University Hospital Santaros Klinikos, head of Lithuanian Heart Association Vilnius Branch, former President of Lithuanian Heart Association, active Member of European Atherosclerosis Society, European Society of Cardiology, President Elect of Baltic Atherosclerosis Society, member of Board of Lithuanian Society of Cardiology (leading person of Cardiovascular Prevention working group), member of Lithuanian Society of Hypertension, national expert for Cardiovascular Prevention Guidelines of European Society of Cardiology, expert in European Commission project evaluations, National Leader of International Projects ScreenPro FH and Global EAS FH Studies Collaboration, Investigator, Principal Investigator and/or Country Leader in more than 20 International Randomized Clinical trials since 1996, member of organizing committee of National Cardiovascular Primary Prevention Programme in Lithuania, member of Competence center of Lipidology in Vilnius University Hospital Santaros Clinics (member of MetabERN; network coordinator Maurizio Scarpa). Professor Zaneta Petrulioniene is well-known for her lectures, articles and works on Cardiovascular Epidemiology, Risk Factors Prevalence, Primary and Secondary Cardiovascular Prevention, Lipidology, Atherosclerosis, Cardiovascular and Lipid-lowering Pharmacology. Professor has done research on the Pathogenesis of Atherosclerosis, Coronary Artery Disease, on Cardiovascular risk factors identification and modification. This work has identified prevalence of CVD risk profiles in primary prevention population and secondary prevention patient groups. Together with collegues has founded first Preventive Cardiology Department in Lithuania. This research has also led to elucidation of the main reasons and signs of early atherosclerosis progression and reasons of high cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in Lithuania. Professor together with her co-workers has published numerous articles in International and National Journals. Currently Zaneta Petrulioniene has focused her efforts on lipidology, heterozygous and homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia nationwide screening, pooling and expanding data to assess gap and improve management and outcomes.
